The house

Casa Porta Fontevecchia is surrounded by greenery and tranquility, and is the ideal holiday home for those seeking peace, silence and relaxation. It is located in Umbria, in the historic center of Spello, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, in a great location close to numerous art sites and points of interest.

Located in the upper part of the village, inside the walls, it is extremely bright and every window offers a unique view of the valley and the olive-grown hills.

It was one of the first houses in Spello to undergo a green building restoration, from the type of foundation and cement studied by German engineers, to the windows, the shutters, the glass. The original floor, perfectly preserved, is in ancient terracotta, with some cobblestone inserts that date back to an old alley that has been incorporated into the floor.

Wooden beams, vaulted ceilings and arches distinguish the house. All windows have double glazing, screens, and blackout wooden shutters. It is equipped with in-floor heating, which can be set on each floor with independent thermostats, air conditioning, and fiber Wi-Fi that reaches every room.

The entrance, which can also be used as a work area, leads to the ground floor. It consists of a large and welcoming living room with 2 sofa beds (sleeps 3-4) 50-inch smart TV and a beautiful working fireplace, a bathroom with shower, a kitchen equipped with every comfort, including dishwasher, coffee machine, tea kettle, toaster, oven, fridge and everything you need to have meals and cook.

The kitchen leads to an indoor covered patio which enjoys a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills, the ideal place for breakfast, to meet for lunch or an aperitif but also to read a book or work on the computer- a unique and functional space to use throughout the day. From the loggia is a staircase that leads to the garden and to the exit of the house.

The first floor (sleeps 4) is accessible from the internal entrance to the hamlet. As soon as you enter you come across a large relaxation/reading/work area and from there you go up a few stairs to the main floor. The kitchen is complete with coffee machine, tea kettle, washing machine, 40-inch smart TV and everything you need to prepare meals.

A lovely dining area and living room, a bathroom with tub and shower, two bedrooms with large closets: the first with 2 single beds, from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding olive groves, and the other, in a private position on the upper level, with a large double bed and private bathroom.

For those who wish, there is the possibility of having a cook to prepare – with express cooking directly in the home or with delivery – two types of menu: one designed ad hoc to utilize local products and one classic Italian cuisine.

In the case of longer stays it is possible to have a cleaning service on request.

All sheets and linens are pure cotton and there is a wide selection of blankets, duvets and pillows for every season. In the 2 kitchens you will find everything you need for breakfast, which is complementary and offered by the host to welcome you.

Pets are always welcome and upon request, we can provide a fleece dog bed, water and food bowls, all of which are provided free of charge for maximum hygiene and everyone’s comfort.
