A favorite destination for the holidays for thousands of tourists from all over the world, Spello is rich in history and traditions.
There is robust evidence of the Roman era seen in the Villa Mosaici and Torri di Properzio, on top of which you can see important frescoes including the Baglioni Chapel by Pinturicchio and two works by Perugino in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Tega Chapel by Alunno.
The alleyways, characteristic for their wonderful floral decorations, boast the presence of many small restaurants, wine bars and clubs that manage to satisfy everyone’s taste.
It is impossible to be in Spello and not be enchanted by admiring the views that unexpectedly open up from the various panoramic points.
In addition to the traditional autumn festival dedicated to the delicious extra virgin olive oil, Spello is known above all for its artistic floral carpets and paintings the event linked to the Corpus Domini festivity at the end of spring, with testimonies dating back to 1602, which today attracts tens of thousands of tourists from all over the world.
A few kilometers from Spello you can enjoy a spa and sulfur hot springs.
Hiking and mountain biking lovers can find numerous paths that lead from Spello to Assisi via Monte Subasio: itineraries from 5 to 35 km go through olive groves, woods, and other beautiful locations.
